WHO ARE THEY?
Rock City FC were formed in 2001 as a member of the Minnesota Amateur Soccer League (MASL), a Twin Cities based league. The club has been known by multiple names over its 21 year history, including St Cloud SC and St Cloud Lightning. The teams have historically consisted of players in the St. Cloud area, and recently have expanded to include players from multiple cities in and around Central Minnesota. The club began with teams in both the Second and Third Divisions of the MASL. The squad has sent Over-40 teams to Vegas for the Kings Cup tournament every winter since 2017. In 2018, Rock City FC dropped down to the Minnesota Recreational Soccer League, working their way into the First Division. Starting in 2020, the club has participated in the MN Fall Cup, a competition consisting of Minnesota-based UPSL squads.
HOW DID THEY DO LAST YEAR?
Rock City FC competed in the First Division of the Minnesota Recreational Soccer League during the 2021 season. Rock City FC won the MRSL First Division championship after a successful 12-2-0 campaign, edging out Red Devils by four points for the title. The club's O40 and O48 squads also competed in the King's Cup, with the O48 squad making it to the semi-finals of the tournament for the first time in club history.
This is Rock City FC's first scheduled match for the 2022 season. Rock City FC will play a second friendly against Granite City FC (UPSL) before defending their title in the Minnesota Recreational Soccer League's First Division. Rock City FC's home stadium will be CSB Athletic Complex in St. Joseph, MN.
HISTORY AGAINST ROCK CITY FC:
This will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs.
